Dragon Age II

Well hello folks for anyone that might periodically stop by here.

While no longer do I play Warhammer Online I still am playing games in and out of my day to day life of trying to make it rich in this world of ours... well maybe not rich but at least pay my bills and support those who I care about. Lately gaming has taken somewhat a back seat until last week when I ferociously dedicated my spare time to restarting and finishing Dragon Age Origins in time for my pre-order of Dragon Age II to be released which is currently installing at home on my PC as I clicked 'install' when I was walking out the door to head to work.

When DAO came out I was very interested in the game as the trailers really seemed like it was a lot of fun. I spent a great deal of my Holidays that year playing DAO playing through the origin sequences, trying out the classes and generally having a great time. I played as a Tank Warrior all the way up to just before the landsmeet before the final act and then as work started up again put the game aside, worked and played WAR. I restarted again months later trying a rouge and found it not to be nearly as enjoyable as the Warrior and stopped playing. Now I played from the start again as a Mage and found it a lot of fun. The Mage was rather OP and was making up for over 40% of my party dmg mostly due to AOE attacks like fireball and Blizzard (which was my favorite spell). I beat the game on Saturday of last week played through some of Awakening and when I got wiped without saving for 2hrs I did my usual rage quit and have no real desire to play Awakening as I went to the DA2 demo right away.

I liked the demo although it seemed somewhat unpolished and the cut scene transitions were choppy. I didn't mess with many of the graphic settings and there was little to do outside of basically do a couple of quick fights, get introduced to the new communication system and meet the main character. It did however make me excited as a gamer for the released which was of course today.

When work is over and I get home, play with the dog (not a metaphor) and have diner etc I'll sit down and no doubt bury myself in the game until 2am or something stupid like that. I love the Dragon Age world and mythology and I think it's a great system of combat in the 1st game. Clearly some things have changed a great deal in DA2 for combat and whatnot but as in any RPG you're just as excited for the story as you are mechanics (at least I always have been). I think I'm going to start out playing a S/B Warrior... I don't really like letting the AI do my tanking for me if I'm totally honest...

To those people also interested, no I don't have any intention of going back to WAR any time soon or no doubt ever. There are just far too many things about that game atm that I don't want to have to put up with and there are other games out on the market atm that I'm really enjoying.

Recently been playing Civ 5 again, awesome game. I played Red Dead Redemption on PS3 and loved it. I play EA NHL 2k11 and Tiger Woods somewhat regularly and I find those to be excellent distractions. I'm always up for Company of Heroes with some of my buddies also, fun game but I'm a horrible noob. I'm looking forward to the new Total War game out I think next week!
